Chief Executive

We are looking for a Chief Executive to lead our team. 

Over the past several years, Aviva has grown steadily and deliberately and has evolved into an organisation of more than 55 kaimahi, delivering highly regarded services across Canterbury with a valued reputation at national levels. That growth has been purposeful, values-led and grounded in trust - with Aviva recognised throughout the motu as a credible, collaborative voice within the violence-prevention sector.

It is this success, maturity and increased complexity that has led the Board to establish a new Chief Executive role.

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive will provide strategic, relational and organisational leadership for Aviva. You will work in close partnership with an experienced Senior Leadership Team, including the General Manager - Clinical Services, to ensure Aviva remains safe, credible, well-governed and purpose-aligned in a complex operating environment.

Your focus will include:

  • Strengthening strategic cohesion and long-term sustainability
  • Working alongside the senior leadership team to strengthen Aviva's external relationships with government, funders, iwi and hapū, kaupapa Māori providers, and sector partners (including specialist sexual violence networks)
  • Supporting strong governance, financial stewardship and risk management
  • Enabling deliberate, well-paced organisational evolution
  • Creating the conditions for kaimahi to thrive by ensuring leadership load is appropriately shared and thoughtful outcomes are achieved

Client Services Manager - Family Violence

We are seeking an experienced Client Services Manager to provide clinical leadership, quality assurance, and operational oversight across our Family Violence services. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role supporting Team Leaders and frontline kaimahi who work with adults, tamariki and rangatahi across Canterbury.

Based at Amuri Park, this role is 40 hours per week, worked predominately Monday–Friday to meet service needs. You will be based at our offices in Christchurch, but there will be a requirement to travel across the Canterbury region.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will:

  • Lead and support multiple Family Violence service teams
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, and effective service delivery
  • Provide clinical oversight, risk management, and practice guidance
  • Strengthen systems, pathways, and quality assurance processes
  • Build strong internal and external relationships across the sector

 

About You

You’re a confident, values-driven leader who understands both people and systems, and who can balance compassion with accountability.

You will bring:

  • Registered or qualified Social Worker
  • Membership of a professional body (ANZASW preferred)
  • 3–5+ years’ leadership experience in family violence or related social services
  • Strong understanding of family violence dynamics and complex practice
  • Experience working with adults, tamariki and rangatahi
  • Proven ability to lead engaged, effective teams
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong written skills and confidence with reporting and compliance
  • Alignment with Aviva’s values and commitment to a life free from violence
  • Current full driver’s licence and willingness to travel across Canterbury

Family Violence Kaimahi - Adults

We are looking for a Family Violence Support Worker to join our dynamic team. 

In this role you will provide professional individual and group-based services to support adults, youth and children experiencing family violence, or at risk of using family violence.  A key focus of the position will be providing group facilitation and safety education and to groups and individuals experiencing family violence.

The position will include liaising with the other agencies that also work with our clients to ensure that support is gained in a timely, co-ordinated, and consistent manner.

This is a full-time permanent position. The hours for this role are between Monday and Friday. There is also an optional after hours roster you can be a part of if you wish. 

To be successful in this role you will be a natural problem solver, you will be resilient and calm under pressure. You will also have:

  • Relevant Social Work Qualification and/or experience
  • Current professional membership of an approved professional body e.g., ANZASW, NZAC, NAPSS
  • Experience working with people experiencing family violence.
  • Current full driver’s license
